I - I NEED YOUR HELP!
My favorite spirit villain
Above is one of Heru Odyssey’s pieces
1. What is your name?
I was born Shavone although I refer to myself as Heru Odyssey from time to time.
2. What is the story behind your name?
Heru means the distant one in Egyptian and it is also the name of the sun god, son of Osiris and Isis. It came to me one afternoon and I’ve went with it since. Odyssey means my journey, so it’s more like Heru’s Odyssey.
3. Where did you grow up?
A dope little place called Austin, TX
4. Why do you think you lived there?
Besides my parents moving us out here when we were young. It’s one of the best cities to grow up in musically and just in general. It’s so relaxed and I feel southern hospitality is priceless.
5. What do you do while drawing?
I listen to music and sometimes I look at other inspiring art.
6. How many Drawings do you have in all?
I couldn’t tell you, I’ve been drawing before I could read or write.
7. How long does it take you to draw?
Depends, anywhere from a few seconds to a few months depending on how I want the piece to turn out.
8. How are you?
9. What is your mood like right now?
I’m content, generally positive
10. What are your favorite hobbies?
Making music, drawing, watching lectures on ancient Egypt and the history of the world, exchanging ideas with peeps, playing Street Fighter, being out in nature, running, drinking tea.
11. What is your private time like?
My private time is sacred, I’m alone and get to listen to all the creative voices in my head. If all is how I like it, I’ll have a bowl of herb, some hot tea, and I’ll either make music or listen to music and draw.
12. What do you do the most?
Create music or draw, some day I plan for that to be all I need to do for income. Once that’s for certain then it’s a wrap!
13. Who were your idols and why do you think you were attracted to them?
I don’t have idols, just inspirations. The likes of which would be OutKast, Gorillaz, Del tha Funkee Homosapien, and countless other musical and visual artists.
14. I hear you make music, tell me more about that?
I found my way into music when I felt my art was unappreciated around sophomore year in high school. I felt the people I knew didn’t understand all the time and effort I put into my artwork. I decided music was a good way for me to communicate with others while expressing myself at the same time and I haven’t stopped since. I started producing beats at first then began rapping and later singing. I feel my background in visual art helps me to ‘see’ music in ways others don’t, I see each song as a blank canvas for expression with every song being unique and completely different from the others I create. Through music I found my voice and a deep love for performing, it’s a feeling that is irreplaceable.
15. What is your musician name? For the viewers since I already know you
